In my last message I complained about high oil consumption on my 87 Savage with 10500(?)Km on it - 1liter/400Km and received a lot of useful advices from you.Thank you all! Now I changed all 4 valve seals, polished valve surfaces and... changed cam chain. It was so overstretched that the adjuster's spring went out of the adjuster. Also visially (I did not remove the cylinder and measure with an instrument the dimensions of the piston and cylinder)felt that the piston shakes in the cylindet (maybe 1 mm) but I cannot tell exactly. What I am asking from you, friends is:
1.Is it normal to change chain on 10000km or the mileage is not right.I bought my 87 Savage last summer with only 6500Km on it and for me(I am not a professianal) it seemed the right mileage. The bike has stayed a long time outside without moving, maybe this is one of the reasons for this.
2.In CLYMER'S manual I read that clearance between piston and cylinder should be 0.05-0.06 mm.I cannot tell exactly how much is it on my bike because as far as I know the piston does not have a strictly cylinder form and the most upper part is smaller-maybe that is why piston shakes. In case oil consumption is still that high shall I:
a) replase the piston and rings and bore the cylinder to 0,5 oversise
b) replace only piston rings or only oil ring with the same (normal ) diameter.
c) drive as it is now and refill oil when needed
All advices will be apreciated.
Best wishes,
Miroslav Atitch from Bulgaria
P.S.Does anyone know the web pages for genuine Suzuki parts?
